Show the function keys

Do you think Rolls Royce is greedy? Apple is an aspiration brand like Royce, Lamborghini. They will only make expensive products. If Lamborghini makes a cheap car no one will think they are expensive. Dec 18, 2011 And when Apple, one of the biggest control freaks in computer history, introduced third-party software development for their cell phone platform in 2008, they took the thing one step further. In the iOS ecosystem, you cannot distribute software without Apple's explicit permission, and you can only distribute it on Apple's online store.

Press and hold the Fn (Function) key on your keyboard to see F1 through F12 in the Touch Bar.

You can also make the function keys appear automatically when you use specific apps:

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Keyboard.
  2. Click Shortcuts at the top of the window, then select Function Keys from the list on the left.
  3. Click the add button (+), then select an app and click Add. For each app that you add, the function keys will automatically appear in the Touch Bar whenever you're using that app.

As an alternative to showing the function keys in the Touch Bar, you can use the function keys in the onscreen keyboard.

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Keyboard and complete one of these steps:
    • If you're using macOS Big Sur, select 'Show Input menu in menu bar' in the Input Sources pane.
    • If you're using macOS Catalina or earlier, select 'Show Keyboard and emoji viewers in menu bar' in the Keyboard pane.
  2. Click the viewer icon in the menu bar, then choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
  3. Click the Fn key in the onscreen keyboard to make it show all function keys.

Show the function keys when using Microsoft Windows

  1. From the notification area on the right side of the Windows taskbar, click the up arrow to show hidden icons.

  • Drag the app to the Applications folder
  • Close & eject the DMG image
  • Launch the app by searching 'itch' in Spotlight

Verifying the app

Recent versions of Mac OS X have built-in code signature verification mechanismsenabled by default that will prevent opening unsigned apps (also known asGatekeeper).

While this provides little security (any one can buy a $99/year individual developercertificate), it does allow you to verify that the app you just downloaded was,indeed, built and distributed by us (itch.io).

All our OSX binaries are signed by a Developer ID certificate to the name of Amos Wenger,and you can verify them by running the following command in a terminal:

Updating

The app is self-updating on OSX, just like on Windows. Refer to the Windows page for details.

Uninstalling

You can uninstall the app by dragging itch.app out of your /Applicationsfolder and into the Trash.

Note that this won't remove your library, which resides at ~/Library/Application Support/itch,along with any additional install locations you have added from the app.
